Because an internet marketing business has many different moving parts, from web design to traffic generation, outsourcing some of these task can be extremely helpful. When you think of all the new specialized skills you’ll need to learn, outsourcing expert help can be a lifesaver.
Now granted, when you are just starting out, outsourcing may be the furthest thing from your mind. However, even if you are just starting to get your feet wet, I want you to start thinking about what you do best and what you don’t. I remember starting a home business on Ebay years ago that took off and I couldn’t control the sales if I wanted to.
In this situation I new that I was going to need some immediate help and I brought on a part time assistant. I paid him to do some of the mundane tasks that I didn’t necessarily care for in exchange for a consistent hourly wage created by the added sales and productivity. When your business gets to that level, don’t put it off as it will ultimately stunt your growth.
Now when you get there, it’s important that you keep you eye on the mission and goals of your business. Making the right hires is critical and professionalism, values and work ethic are all important as well. Hiring people that will work in positions that are natural for them and they excel at is also something to strongly consider too.
A good example of this would be my retired mother that lives with us and works for me a few hours a day. She will set appointments, answer emails and occasionally deal with customer service issues when they arise. Being that she only works a few hours a day and some days not at all (she told me she has a life), these tasks that she handles are not detrimental to my business in her absence. Bottom line, don’t give someone else too much control over the direction of your home business, even if you call them Mom.
While some jobs are needed on an hourly basis, many tasks can be accomplished by outsourcing to freelancers. For examples, you can get ghostwriters to write good content for your website or you can get advertisers to post classifieds and other marketing related tasks to keep traffic coming to your site.
Now when it comes to project work, you are only required to pay them once based on a job done according to your previously agreed specifications. You can find reputable freelancers in several places right on the net. A couple popular sites you should familiarize yourself with are www.rentacoder.com and www.elance.com.
So now that you have a couple resources to fall back on when your home business gets to that point (or maybe you’re already there) you can rest assured that you won’t have to do it all yourself. If you’re anything like me then you might be somewhat of a control freak when it comes to running your business, however, I’ve come to realize that leveraging and outsourcing are the only way to build a scalable business model that continues to work when you’re not. Now start building!
Here’s a parting note, Dream Big! Don’t allow the little things that get in the way of building that dream stop you. Your dream got you this far and can get you as far as you want to go. The sky’s the limit, go for it, take massive action and prosper!
