FAQs For Conference Calls

by Pri Vag

Q: How do I know if someone is eavesdropping on the call? A: It’s simple. As the conference organiser, you are given the control through passwords and audit capabilities to check, monitor and administer access privileges so that the conference call runs smoothly.

Q: Surely its better to have a face to face meeting than a conference call? A: It really depends how you use it. We wouldnt suggest having conference calls instead of every meeting, however, it is a very economical and practical way to discuss projects, campaigns, training etc. For instance, we have our sales meeting by conference call every Monday morning. This ensures our time is not wasted in commuting and we can spend our time more productively.

Q: Can I make a conference call from my mobile? A: Yes, from anywhere in the world. All you will need is a telephone and a signal and it is a simple as that.

Q: How does it actually work? A: With the basic product, you are given a number for the participants to dial. They all dial in at the agreed time. Each participant enters a unique PIN code and when prompted, they record their name. Your PIN will open the bridge, their name is announced and everyone can communicate. You have the ability to record the call for playback to those who were absent (e.g. for training).

Q: What is so special about the advanced product? A: One of our customers uses this for their product development work. Their engineers and product laboratories dial in every week as per the standard product and they also have a web facility. This allows them to share documentation through their PC, as though they were passing papers across the table. This has drastically reduced their product launch timescales and costs. .
