by Anne Durrell

Understanding the symptoms of ADD can help you to better understand the condition.

Is ADD Real?

One of the biggest controversies about ADD is that it is not a real condition. However, a closer look at the symptoms will allow you to see that ADD is not normal behavior.

There is no reason to deny a child treatment that can greatly improve their life just because of a belief that ADD is not real. ADD has been proven though medical studies to be a real condition that needs treatment.

ADD Behaviors

The symptoms of ADD are often referred to as behaviors because ADD is a behavioral disease. True ADD only covers one group of behaviors. ADHD, a related disease, covers two additional groups.

Misdiagnosis is general since many doctors are quick to determine kids ADHD when they are, in fact, only ADD. This can bring to overmedicating the kid and given improper overall therapy.

Symptoms of ADD

The common symptoms to watch for are:

* Inability to focus

* Inability to concentrate

* Problem putting ideas into words

* Quick anger

* Disturbance

When to seek for warning signs

Since the school situations involves a lot of behaving and focusing, many children with ADD will begin to show some symptoms of problems when they get into school.

Children with ADD may have trouble learning new things and may seem as if they are not paying attention or acting up often. Teachers are often the first to recognize the symptoms of ADD.

As a matter of fact, ADD can attack adults, too. The symptoms are the same as well as the therapy is commonly the same. With improper therapy of ADD, an adult or a child could undergo in work or school.

Therapy needs to be adjusted and monitored all the time. Somehow, once therapy is administered as well as working, it can help people with ADD to completely handle the ADD symptoms and learn to live with the illness.
